Satoshi Nakamoto's response to lost coins 16 years ago: Lost Bitcoin is a donation to all holders

PANews, June 21 – On this day in history, 16 years ago, Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto responded to a community forum question about lost Bitcoin, leaving behind a classic statement that has been passed down to this day.

When a community member asked how to handle lost private keys and permanently destroyed tokens, Satoshi explained that lost Bitcoin would only slightly increase the value of the remaining circulating Bitcoin, and could be seen as a donation to all coin holders.
