Ethereum Foundation Reaffirms Mission: Focusing on Censorship Resistance, Privacy, and Sovereign Infrastructure

PANews, June 22 — Bastian Aue (Aerugo), the interim co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation, published a statement clarifying that the Foundation’s mission is to ensure Ethereum always exists as a truly permissionless sovereign infrastructure, with a focus on preserving censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security. The article notes that the Foundation will not cater to short-term speculation or institutional interests. Going forward, it will prioritize addressing systemic risks such as toxic MEV, lack of privacy, staking centralization, and L2 dependency, while advancing long-term directions like quantum-resistant cryptography, private payments, and AI agent wallets, in order to prevent Ethereum from being “soft-controlled” by states, oligarchs, or centralized intermediaries.

Aerugo also stated that his current personal body fat percentage is approximately 31%, which has already affected his cognitive performance and energy in his current role. He pledged to reduce his body fat percentage to below 25% by the end of this year and maintain it throughout his tenure at the EF, or else resign without compensation. Aerugo said this move is a self-imposed requirement and public commitment tied to his current responsibilities, and he admitted to lacking experience in fat loss and training, openly soliciting rigorous advice from the public.
