PANews reported on February 12 that according to Jinshi, Fed Chairman Powell said in his semi-annual monetary policy testimony that I am very cautious about monetary policy rules. They are a starting point, not an end point. In hindsight, tightening policy earlier would have been a good move, but it is not sure how much difference it would have made if it had taken action earlier. Even if US President Trump asked, he would not resign. The Fed will take appropriate and cautious adjustments in the review. When asked whether the Fed would allow the Government Efficiency Department to access the Fed data, Powell said that we have not had contact with them and there is no news to report.
