PANews reported on October 13th that, according to TheMinerMag, Canaan and Canada's Aurora AZ Energy announced the launch of a 2.5MW off-grid Bitcoin mining farm in Calgary, Alberta. The farm will utilize stranded gas from oil wells and deploy 700 Avalon A15 Pro processors, valued at over $2 million. The project promises approximately 90% uptime and electricity costs below the industry average. Canaan stated that its self-operated computing power reached 9.3 exahashes per second (EH/s) as of September, and last month received US orders for over 50,000 A15 Pro processors, totaling over 10 EH/s. The two companies plan to replicate this model in more areas with associated gas/exhaust gas production to address the constraints of centralized power grids and the localized energy needs of AI/HPC.
