PANews reported on October 15th that according to The Block, New York City Mayor Eric Adams signed an executive order establishing the nation's first mayoral-level Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain. The new office will encourage the responsible use of digital assets and blockchain technology and will be led by Moises Rendon, who has worked in the digital asset sector in New York City for over a year. The office is committed to coordinating collaboration between the cryptocurrency industry and the government, working with federal and state governments to advance policies and attract compliant and value-creating blockchain and cryptocurrency projects. At the same time, the office will focus on attracting talent to ensure New York City remains competitive in financial innovation. Adams, who supported cryptocurrencies during his tenure, received his salary in Bitcoin and hosted cryptocurrency summits, is due to end his term at the end of the year. Last month, he announced his withdrawal from the race due to campaign funding issues.
