Li Chenggang: China and the United States have reached a preliminary consensus on the safe and stable resolution of a number of important economic and trade issues

PANews reported on October 26th that according to Jinshi, China and the United States held economic and trade consultations in Kuala Lumpur from October 25th to 26th local time. Li Chenggang, China's International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce, told Chinese and foreign media after the consultations that the two sides reached a preliminary consensus on properly resolving several important economic and trade issues of mutual concern, and the next step will be to complete their respective domestic approval procedures. "Over the past month or so, there have been some shocks and fluctuations in Sino-US economic and trade relations, which have attracted great global attention." Li Chenggang stated that since the Sino-US Geneva economic and trade talks in May this year, China has strictly adhered to the consensus reached in multiple phone calls between the two leaders of the two countries, faithfully and conscientiously implemented the consensus arrangements reached in the economic and trade consultations, and carefully nurtured the hard-won and relatively stable Sino-US economic and trade cooperation relationship. "These shocks and fluctuations are not what China wants to see." "The US side expressed a tough position, and China is resolute in safeguarding its interests." Li Chenggang said that during the consultations, the Chinese and US economic and trade teams always respected each other and engaged in equal dialogue. Going forward, the two sides will further strengthen communication and exchanges and make positive efforts for the more stable and healthy development of Sino-US economic and trade relations.
