PANews reported on January 20th that, according to ABS-CBN, Philippine police recently rescued a Chinese citizen who had been illegally detained by Chinese kidnappers in an apartment in Pasay City. Two people were arrested at the scene, and two other suspects are at large. The victim claimed he was threatened with a $1 million ransom and had already transferred over $400,000 in cryptocurrency. The suspects also allegedly threatened him with organ trafficking. Police seized duct tape, knives, handcuffs, and other items at the scene and will file charges for kidnapping and extortion.
