PANews reported on December 17th that on-chain analyst Willy Woo, citing Glassnode data, pointed out that the proportion of Bitcoin transactions using the Taproot output type has significantly decreased from a high of 42% in 2024 to approximately 20% currently. Woo stated that this is the first time he has seen the latest output format "lose adoption" among users, suspecting the main reason might be that Taproot poses a higher risk of exposure to quantum computing, while older formats like SegWit and Legacy are less susceptible to quantum attacks.
Willy Woo: Taproot type address usage has dropped from 42% to 20% since 2024, possibly due to quantum security concerns.
