PANews reported on January 23 that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, responding to community criticism regarding his "abandonment of mainstream tools in favor of niche decentralized tools," stated that blindly pursuing "tools everyone uses," even those that collect user data and may have backdoors added by multiple governments, is the mindset that led to the failure of projects like Liberty Reserve. Conversely, the commitment to building and using tools that protect user autonomy, human-machine sovereignty, and freedom is the philosophy that led to the creation of Bitcoin. He previously announced that he had largely switched to the decentralized encrypted document tool Fileverse and migrated from Telegram to Signal.
Vitalik criticized the "user volume first" mentality and emphasized the importance of autonomous human-machine sovereignty tools.
