After Fractal, the BTC ecosystem hasn’t seen any big news for a long time. Not only has there been no big news, but the community almost brought down Solv. It’s speechless. But it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t prevent us from exploring high-quality projects.
Today I found a testnet project of Babylon - Fiamma. Let’s see how to use it.
This article is divided into the following sections:
- Fiamma Project Analysis
- Fiamma Background
- Fiamma Testnet Tutorial
- Fiamma galxe events
1. Analysis of Fiamma Project
Fiamma is the first project to realize the BitVM concept, and is also the technical hardcore team that Babylon and BOB are currently relying on. Although Fiamma is still a test network, it has a promising future.
Cryptodog is a blogger who teaches people how to fish. He doesn't just post a simple tutorial and leave it at that. If he does that, my fans can only be tools in the circle, and their growth will be very slow.
So before introducing Fiamma, let us first introduce BitVM.
1. What is BitVM?
In December 2023, Robin Linus, head of ZeroSync, published a white paper titled "BitVM: Compute Anything On Bitcoin", which opened up the feasibility of Bitcoin programmability.
According to the theory of the white paper, similar to the Ethereum network, BitVM is built to be a solution that allows complex calculations to be performed and smart contracts to be deployed on the Bitcoin network. BitVM can perform complex calculations off-chain and verify the results on-chain, which can not only meet the transaction needs of the Bitcoin ecosystem, but also create more complex DApps on the BTC layer, while retaining the security and decentralization characteristics of Bitcoin.
Currently, there are many teams working on BitVM research and development, including:
- ZeroSync founded by Robin, the founder of BitVM
- Currently, there are: Citrea, BOB and Alpen Labs focusing on BTC L2 of bitvm
- Fiamma is the BitVM Bitcoin Bridge and the BitVM-driven ZKP verification layer
Judging from the development progress, Fiamma is currently the one that can implement the BitVM solution.
Fiamma is a core contributor to BitVM and a founding member of the BitVM Alliance:

2. Brief introduction of Fiamma
Fiamma has two infrastructures: Fiamma Bridge (a practical trustless BitVM Bitcoin bridge) and Fiamma Layer (a ZKP (zero-knowledge proof) verification layer powered by BitVM). Fiamma Bridge can bring Bitcoin security and trust minimization to all ecosystems, not just BTC L2. It is currently the only project that has implemented BitVM technology.
As a technical expert, developers can freely innovate on Bitcoin outside of EVM or SVM through Fiamma and shape a new Bitcoin ecosystem.
Currently, the main experience of the test network is Fiamma Bridge, which is a revolutionary cross-chain tool for BTC assets. The mapped mamaBTC always maintains a 1:1 ratio with the BTC on the Bitcoin main chain.
Many people may think that the mapped BTC is just the previously packaged BTC? Since 2020, WBTC, BTCB, and renBTC have been able to play DeFi in Ethereum-based DeFi applications. Isn’t it redundant to create another one?
Don’t forget that WBTC, BTCB, and renBTC are all centralized. The possibility of centralized evil cannot be ruled out, as shown in the following figure:

What if he really touches WBTC? Therefore, centralized things will face huge challenges after all.
Through Fiamma Bridge, users can transfer BTC assets to any chain, such as Eth, Base, ARB, EVM and Solana. The BTC assets generated through Fiamma Bridge always correspond 1:1 to the BTC main chain assets.
Here is an official quote to reinforce the description of Fiamma Bridge:
- No need to fully trust a third party: By introducing a trust-minimized security model, Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals can remain secure as long as there is at least one honest challenger and operator acting;
- Anyone can participate in the challenge: Anyone can be a challenger, ensuring the absolute security of funds and truly achieving trustlessness;
- Efficient cross-chain interaction: Open the door to safer and higher-yield DeFi and cross-chain applications for BTC users.
Fiamma’s strength and background
Fiamma is the technical hardcore team that Babylon and BOB currently invest heavily in. Babylon once said: "The cooperation with Fiamma is unprecedented. We invested the most money and resources. We held several meetings every week and discussed design and technology crazily in the group."
It is reported that Babylon has invested in three projects in total. According to current research, the support given to Fiamma is the greatest in terms of both funds and resources.
In addition to strategic investments from Babylon and BOB, Fiamma also received $4 million in funding from VCs including Lightspeed Faction and L2IV;
- Lightspeed Factio is a well-known crypto fund under Lightspeed, one of the world’s top technology VCs;
- L2IV is a crypto VC focused on infrastructure projects in the ZK and Bitcoin space;

In terms of technology, Fiamma develops a bridge from Bitcoin to Babylon Chain for Babylon Chain and trust-minimized Bitcoin bridges for other Cosmos ecosystem chains. Babylon Chain has locked up about $6 billion worth of BTC (57,000+ BTC). With such a large amount of funds, Fiamma bridge may not be limited to providing trustless cross-chain participation in DeFi and payments, and it is estimated that there will be more benefits in the future.
Fiamma Test Network Tutorial
Fiamma updated a new feature yesterday. Now the main task of Fiamma is to collect points (Fluff Energy) and then unlock exclusive NFT fragments. Collect 6 fragments to get the Mama Code NFT.
The basis for the airdrop at that time is estimated to be similar to that of DuckChain, which recently launched an airdrop. The rarer the NFT obtained in the testnet phase, the more airdrops you will get.
The airdrop steps are as follows:
Step 1: Enter Fiamma official website
- Related link: https://test-bridge.fiammalabs.io/register?code=XVlDLk
- Link wallet (use OKX wallet, related link: https://www.okx.com/zh-hans/web3?channelid=ACE514158 )
- Link to Twitter
- Enter referral code: XVlDLk

Step 2: Get testnet tokens
It is recommended to collect water in the official DC. To collect water in DC, your account level needs to reach level 1 (100xp). XP is added once a minute, 3 to 5xp each time. It takes 20 minutes to upgrade in DC. When you reach level 1, you can send the address in the faucet channel to collect water.
- The official website also has channels for receiving Holesky ETH and SBTC, as shown below:

- The official website recommends claiming SBTC on OKX, but you may not be able to claim it (as shown below)

sBTC collection (using Native Segwit and Taproot address types):
- Address 1: https://signetfaucet.com/
- Address 2: https://bitcoinfaucet.uo1.net/send.php
- Address 3: https://bitcoinsignetfaucet.com/
- Other ways to receive:
https://t.me/sBTCFaucet_bot (The amount given is very high and can meet the tasks below, but the robot is sometimes abnormal)
https://t.me/TestcoinFaucetNewBot
https://bitcoinsignetfaucet.com/
If you don’t know which address to fill in on the faucet website, please copy it from the BTC wallet column on the Fiamma official website:

The address in the above picture corresponds to the BTC Signet in the OKX wallet. After switching, you can see whether the sbtc has been received:

- To get Holesky ETH , you can use the second link on the official website. Mining is fast. However, you need ENS. If you don’t have it, you can register at https://app.ens.domains/

Step 4: Complete daily tasks
Complete two tasks every day:
- Make 1 deposit at Fiamma Bridge (1000 Fluff Energy per day)
- Complete 1 withdrawal on Fiamma Bridge (3000 Fluff Energy per day)

(1) Deposit Tutorial
- Click on "Go depsit" on the left
- Go to the deposit page
- Enter ETH address
- Enter the amount (the deposit amount needs to be between 0.00105 and 0.01, so the BTC you received may not be enough, try to upgrade to DC)

After completion, it will be displayed as follows. Wait for the block to be confirmed successfully and then the withdrawal task can be completed:

(2) Withdrawal tutorial
- As shown below, click "Go depsit"

- Select BTC address
- Enter amount
- confirm

After completing the deposit and withdrawal tasks, remember to click "wish" on the official website to complete the sign-in, and do it every day.

4. Fiamma galxe activities
The Galxe event ends on January 31st. Complete all tasks to get a commemorative badge and 1,000 Fluff Energy.

- It is important to note that Galxe asks us to fill in the BTC address, do not write it casually (as shown below)

- After linking your wallet on the official website, please copy the following in the BTC column:

The above is today’s tutorial. The Fiamma test network uses the NFT model. It is estimated that the Fiamma test network NFT will have a high value like the Babylon test network NFT in the future.

For airdrops, each project can be operated with multiple accounts
The multi-account tool I currently use is the MorLogin fingerprint browser. I have been using it for almost a year and there is no problem with its security.
You can use the cloud phone function inside. New users can register using the following link:
- New users can create 50 environments for free
- Use the coupon code: jiamigou to get (20% discount)
