PANews reported on April 17 that according to Bloomberg, OpenAI is negotiating to acquire AI programming assistant Windsurf (formerly known as Codeium) for about $3 billion. If the deal goes through, it will be OpenAI's largest acquisition to date and is expected to enhance its competitiveness in the AI programming tool market. Windsurf was valued at $1.25 billion last year and had received more than $200 million in financing.
