Bloomberg: SBI is rumored to be considering selling part of its stake in crypto market maker B2C2, the company denies

PANews reported on April 8 that according to Bloomberg, a subsidiary of Japanese financial services group SBI Holdings Inc. is exploring the sale of a minority stake in cryptocurrency market maker B2C2, according to people familiar with the matter. Sources said SBI Financial Services is seeking to sell part of its stake in B2C2 in a deal that could be worth $100 million and is currently in talks with several potential buyers.

A spokesman for SBI Holdings denied that the company was considering selling part of its stake in B2C2. A B2C2 representative declined to comment. One of the people said the two companies will remain a strategic partnership and SBI Financial Services will retain its equity in B2C2. In December 2020, SBI acquired a 90% stake in B2C2. In February this year, the Japanese conglomerate said B2C2 reported a record nine-month profit and cited "a prosperous market environment after the results of the U.S. presidential election."
