A man in Xiamen stole and sold his friend's virtual currency and made a profit of more than 1.6 million yuan

PANews reported on January 3 that according to Xiamen Daily, a man in Xiamen made a profit of more than 1.6 million yuan by stealing and selling virtual currency from his friend due to losses in futures investment, which he used to repay his debts. The man used a fake offline lie to obtain the verification code of his friend's account, steal and cash in the virtual currency. He voluntarily surrendered in 2024 and is currently being prosecuted by the Huli District Procuratorate for the crime of theft. He may face more than ten years in prison and a fine.
