Thai police seized 996 Bitcoin mining machines in connection with electricity theft

PANews reported on January 9 that according to the Bangkok Post, Thai police raided a company in Phanat Nikhom District, Chonburi Province and seized 996 Bitcoin mining machines. The company was suspected of tampering with electricity meters to illegally mine, evading electricity bills and causing millions of dollars in losses to the power grid.

The police cooperated with the provincial power bureau to launch the operation. An employee admitted to stealing electricity at night and using the meter normally during the day to evade detection. Currently, the police are investigating the relevant responsible persons and plan to apply for an arrest warrant.
