PANews reported on May 30 that according to Finance Feeds, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen clarified that the "Change Bitcoin Code" campaign launched by the environmental organization Greenpeace in 2023 (aimed at pushing Bitcoin to the PoS mechanism) was only funded by him personally and had nothing to do with the company. Larsen said his original intention was to explore the possibility of Bitcoin promoting carbon capture technology, but admitted that the campaign did not meet expectations.
Although Ripple recently presented the "Satoshi Skull" sculpture (originally a symbol of environmental criticism) to the Bitcoin community as a sign of reconciliation, and CEO Brad Garlinghouse called it an "olive branch", the community's reaction was divided. VanEck Digital Asset Director Matthew Sigel demanded that Ripple formally apologize for funding the anti-Bitcoin movement, while Ripple CTO David Schwartz refuted the doubts about XRP's centralization.
