PANews reported on March 25 that, according to the Financial Times, Chinese regulators are reviewing Meta's approximately $2 billion acquisition of AI startup Manus and have restricted the departure of its two founders. The report states that founders Xiao Hong and Ji Yichao were recently summoned by the National Development and Reform Commission in Beijing and questioned about potential violations of regulations concerning outbound direct investment. They were subsequently informed that they are not permitted to leave China.
