PANews reported on March 27th, citing CoinDesk , that Jon Herrick, Chief Product Officer of the New York Stock Exchange ( NYSE ), stated that exchanges are exploring "overlaying and integrating" blockchain with existing market infrastructure, rather than completely replacing traditional systems. The NYSE's key priorities include: achieving real-time or near-real-time settlement through asset tokenization, extending trading hours, and maintaining interoperability with existing clearing and regulatory frameworks. Herrick emphasized that centralized clearing remains efficient in net risk settlement, and blockchain applications will be gradually implemented while preserving regulatory, clearing, and investor protection mechanisms. He predicts that the lines between traditional and tokenized securities may gradually disappear within the next decade.
