PANews reported on April 7th that, according to Jack Dorsey's confirmation on the X platform, Apple has removed the decentralized peer-to-peer chat application Bitchat from the Chinese App Store at the request of the Cyberspace Administration of China. Apple stated that the application was deemed to have violated Article 3 of the "Regulations on Security Assessment of Internet Information Services with Public Opinion Attributes or Social Mobilization Capabilities." Because it uses a Bluetooth-based P2P anonymous communication architecture, Bitchat allows for anonymous communication without servers or accounts.
