PANews reported on April 29th, citing CNN, that Pakistani mediators expect Iran to submit a revised proposal after US President Trump rejected a previous version of the peace offer. Sources familiar with the situation said Iran could respond as early as today, or as late as Friday. The sources also indicated that the delay suggests difficulties in contacting Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. The report stated that the parties are demonstrating patience in different ways. Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif told his cabinet that the Iranian Foreign Minister, who led the negotiations in Islamabad last weekend, "assured me that he would give me a reply." While no specific timetable was given, this public urging to Iran is noteworthy, especially after the White House indicated its patience was wearing thin.
