PANews reported on May 1st that, according to The Block, DeFiLlama data shows that the number of security incidents in the crypto industry reached a record high in April, with more than 20 vulnerability incidents occurring in a single month. Cryptocurrency commentator Stacy Muur counted 24 hacking incidents as of Wednesday, resulting in losses of more than $600 million. The KelpDAO attack, amounting to approximately $292 million, was the largest single incident that month, followed by the Drift Protocol attack, which was approximately $280 million. Drift Protocol previously stated that the attack it suffered was a "structured intelligence operation" that lasted approximately six months. Another notable incident was the loss of $2.5 million to the Polkadot ecosystem protocol Hyperbridge due to cross-chain message forgery. In addition, on-chain analyst Wazz stated that hundreds of wallets on the Ethereum mainnet (many of which had been inactive for more than 7 years) were stolen from the same address, suggesting the possible existence of a new active vulnerability.
