Sources indicate that Iranian officials are expected to formally respond today to the US assessment of the 14-point proposal.

PANews reported on May 8th, citing CCTV News, that Pakistani sources indicate Iran is reviewing the US response to its 14-point proposal. The 14-point proposal aims to formally end hostilities and open a 30-day negotiation window for detailed discussions on issues such as Iran's nuclear program, sanctions relief, and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistani diplomatic sources stated that Iranian officials are expected to formally respond on May 8th, and the US is awaiting Iran's position on key issues. Iran recently submitted a new proposal containing 14 points to the US through Pakistan, a mediator. Key points include ensuring no further military aggression, US military reparations, and establishing a new management mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated on May 2nd that he would soon assess Iran's new proposal but "could not imagine" it being "acceptable."
