PANews reported on May 25th that Elon Musk posted that xAI has completed training of the Grok foundation model V9-Medium (1.5T parameters) and is currently fine-tuning it. Reinforcement learning will begin within days, and it is expected to be available to the public in 2-3 weeks. Compared to the current 0.5T V8-small model serving all Grok's online traffic, the new model will have a "significant improvement" in complex programming tasks. He also stated that the existing 0.5T model is planned to be open-sourced by the end of this year and is expected to remain practically valuable. This training iteration incorporated a large amount of curve-related data, and more will be added in the future.
