PANews reported on May 30th that Sui announced on the X platform that the mainnet has been restored and transactions are proceeding normally. Yesterday, the deployment of a long-term fix triggered an epoch termination pause. This was due to a failure in the random number initialization process that runs at the start of each epoch when validator nodes restart and deploy new binaries, as the quorum threshold exceeded the Sui consensus mechanism. A potential vulnerability existed in the mechanism for preserving this failed state after the validator nodes restarted, preventing the network from transitioning to the next epoch. The validator nodes have now implemented a fix, resolving the underlying vulnerability and the affected epochs, and network activity has returned.
Sui: The mainnet is back online, and transactions are proceeding normally.
