Trump called a halt to strikes against Iran and said a peace agreement would be signed "in the coming days," to which Iran responded that "no conclusion has been reached yet."

PANews reported on June 12 that, according to Jinshi News, US President Trump stated that an agreement to end the war with Iran has been reached, with final details to be finalized in the coming days. Trump said Vice President Vance may travel to Europe this weekend for the signing ceremony, and the Strait of Hormuz will officially open after the agreement is signed. When asked if Iran's Supreme Leader agreed, Trump answered "yes," and said the memorandum of understanding was "very powerful" and would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, but also acknowledged that it was "somewhat still just a conceptual framework." Trump had previously stated on several occasions that an agreement was imminent, but negotiations subsequently stalled; this time, the terms of the new agreement were not discussed.

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that no final conclusion has been reached and that an announcement will be made once a conclusion is reached. The spokesperson also noted that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed due to illegal actions by the United States. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office stated that Netanyahu spoke with Trump and expressed appreciation for the upcoming memorandum of understanding. Congressional Republican hawks publicly pressured Trump against accepting an agreement that was too lenient on Iran. Influenced by Trump's remarks, oil prices plummeted below $90 per barrel on Thursday, US stocks rebounded sharply, spot gold recovered the $4,200 mark, and the dollar index experienced its biggest drop in over a month.
