PANews reported on June 12th that Elon Musk spoke at the SpaceX bell-ringing ceremony on Friday morning (US time), maintaining his characteristically casual and straightforward style. Reflecting on early investors who were bullish on SpaceX, he recalled, "I thought to myself, 'You guys must have gotten a lot of good stuff, because I felt this company was destined to fail.'" Musk wore his signature leather jacket over a black SpaceX-themed T-shirt. Behind him stood a giant image of Mars, with employees standing between it. Musk stated, "SpaceX's goal is to send humans to the Moon, Mars, and ultimately, to the more distant reaches of space." After the bell-ringing ceremony, Nasdaq's live stream played Elton John's song "Rocketman."
During the bell-ringing ceremony, Musk, as always, began his speech with outspokenness. Speaking about early investors who were optimistic about SpaceX, he recalled his initial thoughts: "You guys must have been on a high dose of top-grade cocaine. I thought this company was doomed to fail."
