PANews reported on June 13 that Coinbase's developer platform released an update on the progress of its payment ecosystem development. With the official launch of Coinbase for Agents, users can now create independent accounts for AI Agents and execute automated operations such as trading and asset management under the set permissions and risk control rules. The new Coinbase CLI and MCP, which simplify the login process, have been showcased, and identity and operation integration demonstrations can be performed through Claude. The developer wallet is now available through the Swift SDK, supporting the integration of self-hosted wallet functionality into native iOS applications.
In the coming weeks, the x402 protocol will support direct payments using USDC balances for users within Coinbase for Agents, allowing agents to not only operate accounts but also complete real-world payments directly using users' stablecoin holdings. Furthermore, Coinbase will release a system update on June 16th to further enhance payment and agent-related capabilities.
