PANews reported on June 16 that Trump reiterated that the United States and Iran had reached an agreement, emphasizing that the core of the agreement is only one point—ensuring that Iran will never possess nuclear weapons. Trump stated that he hopes to complete the formal signing before the document is released and plans to hold a press conference in the coming days to introduce the agreement to the media, while also submitting the agreement to the US Congress for review.
Trump also stated that shipping in the Strait of Hormuz is resuming and is expected to be fully open and toll-free by Friday; with the strait reopening, oil prices have fallen rapidly, leading to a decline in overall prices. He reiterated that no U.S. funds would be provided to Iran and stated that U.S.-Iran relations have "normalized."
In addition, Trump stated that the second phase of negotiations is expected to proceed as planned, and the negotiation period may be longer or shorter than 60 days; the United States is not in a hurry to acquire Iranian nuclear materials, but will destroy the relevant nuclear materials at an appropriate time.
On the Russia-Ukraine issue, Trump stated that the US is prepared to let Russia's oil-related sanctions waivers expire and may soon impose harsher sanctions on Russia. He also indicated that the US will continue to push oil prices down further.
