PANews, June 18 – Ethereum Foundation Co-Executive Director Hsiao-Wei Wang issued a statement announcing that, following a sabbatical, she has decided to formally step down from her roles as Co-Executive Director and board member of the Ethereum Foundation, effective immediately. Wang said the break gave her the opportunity to re-evaluate her personal priorities and future plans, leading her to step back at this juncture and devote more time to family and personal life.
In her statement, Wang reflected on her contributions to the Ethereum ecosystem over the past decade, emphasizing that Ethereum’s true strength comes from the decentralized infrastructure collectively maintained by developers, researchers, validators, node operators, and community builders worldwide, rather than any single role or organization. She said that although she is leaving foundation management, she will continue to support the ecosystem’s growth as a community member.
Vitalik Buterin later posted a message of thanks, calling Wang one of the most steadfast contributors to the Ethereum ecosystem over the past ten years, noting that she not only advanced research and consensus mechanism development but also built an active local community in Taipei, Taiwan. Vitalik said that during a critical transition period for Ethereum, Wang took on the foundation’s most challenging management responsibilities and fulfilled the mission with a high degree of professionalism and prudence.
