Apple's First Touchscreen MacBook Pro May Feature M5 Pro/Max Chip, M7 Version Already in Development

PANews June 26 report, according to Bloomberg, Apple's first touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to launch between late 2026 and early 2027, featuring the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, rather than the next-generation M6 series. The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will introduce a touchscreen, OLED display, and Dynamic Island interface for the first time, marking the biggest upgrade to the high-end Mac product line since 2021. Apple also plans to skip the M6 Pro/Max and move straight to the AI-optimized M7 Pro/Max chips, expected to arrive as early as late 2027.

The report states that the M7 series will significantly boost the Neural Engine, graphics performance, and memory bandwidth to enhance on-device AI model execution, signaling Apple’s accelerated push into AI hardware ecosystems.
