Due to supply not meeting demand for computing power, Google restricts Meta's use of Gemini AI model

PANews June 28 news, according to Jinshi reports, Google has imposed restrictions on Meta’s use of its Gemini AI model, as Meta’s computing power demand exceeded what Google could provide. The report says Google informed Meta around March that it could not meet all the Gemini compute capacity Meta was seeking to purchase, adding that this gap disrupted and delayed some of Meta’s internal AI projects. The report also notes that several other Google customers were affected, but to a lesser extent. The Financial Times stated that Meta was particularly hard hit because its demand for Google’s models was unusually high.
