PANews reported on December 19th that the Bank of Japan raised its benchmark interest rate from 0.5% to 0.75%, in line with market expectations. This is the highest interest rate in 30 years, and the first rate hike by the Bank of Japan in 11 months since January 2025.
The Bank of Japan raised interest rates by 25 basis points as expected.
