Meta lays off more than 100 employees in Reality Labs

PANews reported on April 25 that Meta Platforms (META.O) is laying off more than 100 employees in its Reality Labs department, which focuses on developing virtual reality and wearable devices, according to people familiar with the matter. The latest round of layoffs affected Reality Labs employees who focused on creating VR experiences for Meta's Quest headset, as well as operational employees who focused on hardware. Meta's leadership hopes to simplify similar work being done by two different teams within Reality Labs. According to media reports, the company confirmed that layoffs had occurred but did not comment on the number of employees affected. "Some teams at Oculus Studios are undergoing structural and role changes, which has affected team size," Meta spokesperson Tracy Clayton said in an emailed statement.
