2019年10月21日，在第六届世界互联网大会期间，国家发展改革委、中央网信办联合举行启动会，授予四川省、河北省（雄安新区）、浙江省、福建省、广东省、重庆市国家数字经济创新发展试验区。 建设国家数字经济创新发展试验区是贯彻落实党中央、国务院关于创新驱动发展、区域协调发展等战略部署的重大创新举措，是深化供给侧结构性改革、促进产业转型升级的重要驱动力量，有利于推动互联网、大数据、人工智能与实体经济深度融合，建设网络强国、数字中国、智慧社会，实现高质量发展。
