The Bitcoin 2025 conference officially opened in Las Vegas on May 27th, Pacific Time. Speakers on the first day included: Trump's eldest son Donald Trump Jr., White House encryption affairs director David Sacks, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, and BlackRock digital asset head Robert Mitchnick.
The list of speakers for the Bitcoin 2025 conference also includes: US Vice President JD Vance; Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht; Strategy founder Michael Saylor; and Trump's second son Eric Trump.
U.S. government officials expressed their views
Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., said at the Bitcoin 2025 conference that the floodgates for Bitcoin are opening.
David Sacks, the White House's director of cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence and the "crypto czar," said: "We believe that blockchain, Bitcoin, and cryptocurrency are the financial system of the future."
The Trump administration’s executive director said: “Bitcoin is the gold standard,” and stressed: “We are not selling any Bitcoin that the U.S. government may hold, period.”
U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming said Trump supports her proposed Bitcoin bill. At the Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas, Lummis said Trump "has a team in the White House working on digital asset issues - from stablecoins to market structure to a strategic reserve of Bitcoin - and they may launch it in that order." The senator's draft Bitcoin bill proposes to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve and purchase 1 million Bitcoins for this purpose. In addition, she also said that U.S. military generals are "very supportive" of establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve to enhance economic strength.
Rosie Rios, former U.S. Treasury Treasurer, said: “Bitcoin is here to stay, and this train has left the station.”
Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said that if he is elected governor of Ohio, he will "integrate financial literacy into the state's public education," including "Bitcoin education."
U.S. Congressman Byron Donalds said he would vote in favor of the Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Act, "It turns out that Bitcoin is a holder of value."
Business people expressed their views
Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley believes that if wealth managers allocated 1% of their funds to Bitcoin, "that would be hundreds of billions of dollars."
Robert Mitchnick, head of BlackRock's digital assets, once again said that "Bitcoin has much more room to grow than gold."
Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets at VanEck, said the "most feasible path" to establishing a permanent U.S. strategic bitcoin reserve is through "targeted amendments to congressional budget legislation." He noted that these amendments could include "tax credits for miners that use methane gas" and encourage miners to "turn over some of their bitcoin to the federal government." Sigel said this would allow the reserve to "grow naturally over time."

Square, a subsidiary of Block, launched a real-time Bitcoin payment pilot at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas, allowing attendees to purchase peripheral products through the Lightning Network.
Bitcoin Magazine called on attendees to prepare their BTC wallets as they will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for "Number of Bitcoin Transactions" at an event.
