OpenAI and SoftBank each invested $500 million to support SB Energy in building a data center.

PANews reported on January 10th that, according to First Financial Daily, OpenAI and SoftBank Group have jointly invested $1 billion in SB Energy, an infrastructure company that is partnering with the two tech companies to build large-scale data centers in the United States to support artificial intelligence. OpenAI and SoftBank stated in a press release on Friday that each company will invest $500 million in SB Energy to support the energy company's development as a data center developer and operator. OpenAI also stated that it has selected SB Energy to build and operate its 1.2 gigawatt data center in Miram County, Texas. One gigawatt of power is enough to simultaneously power approximately 750,000 American homes. The partnership with SB Energy builds upon OpenAI's "Stargate Project."
