The US government transferred nearly 20,000 bitcoins related to Silk Road this morning

PANews reported on December 3 that according to Arkham data, the US government transferred 19,800 bitcoins related to Silk Road (via an intermediate address) worth nearly US$2 billion to Coinbase Prime, which may imply that it has sold or is preparing to sell these seized assets.

Previously, the Department of Justice said it had seized more than 50,000 bitcoins in 2022 and planned to sell them in batches. Earlier this year, the U.S. Marshals Service partnered with Coinbase Prime to handle the custody and trading of large digital assets. The U.S. government currently still holds about $18 billion worth of seized crypto assets.
