PANews reported on May 28 that according to CoinDesk, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis said at the "Bitcoin 2025" conference that the process of advancing the stablecoin bill "GENIUS Act" was "extremely difficult." She said: "It's really hard, I had no idea how hard it would be." The bill passed a procedural vote last week with more than 60 votes and entered the final discussion stage before the final vote, but it was previously blocked by opposition from Democratic Congressman Elizabeth Warren and other bipartisan figures.
Lummis said that if the bill, which she and New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand jointly promoted, is passed, it will be the first successful legislation of the Senate Banking Committee in eight years. Lummis also revealed that she is coordinating behind the scenes on the market structure bill with the House of Representatives, which has more legislative experience after passing the FIT21 Act last year.
