PANews reported on January 26 that according to the Jakarta Globe, Tirta Karma Senjaya, head of Indonesia's Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), announced that Indonesia's cryptocurrency trading volume will increase by 335.9% year-on-year to 650.61 trillion rupiah (about 40 billion US dollars) in 2024. As of November 2024, the country has 22.1 million registered crypto users, and popular trading currencies include USDT, BTC, DOGE, PEPE and XRP.
Bappebti expects the number of users to increase to 25 million in the future and plans to transfer the supervision of crypto trading to the Financial Services Authority (OJK) this year, while continuing to supervise commodity futures trading.
