PANews reported on April 3 that the U.S. House of Representatives Financial Services Committee passed the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act (HR 1919) with 27 votes in favor and 22 votes against. The bill was proposed by House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and aims to prohibit the Federal Reserve from issuing central bank digital currency (CBDC) and prevent it from directly providing financial services to individuals or using CBDC to implement monetary policy.
