Musk is exploring the use of blockchain technology to improve the efficiency of the US government

PANews reported on January 25 that according to Bloomberg, Elon Musk is leading the newly established Department of U.S. Government Efficiency (DOGE) and discussing the use of blockchain technology to improve government efficiency. Sources revealed that Musk's team is exploring the possibility of tracking federal spending, protecting data, processing payments and managing assets through blockchain. DOGE representatives also met with representatives of multiple public blockchain projects to assess the potential for technology applications.

DOGE, established by the Trump administration, aims to modernize federal technology and optimize government spending, and plans to complete reform recommendations by July 4, 2026. Musk said blockchain could become a core tool to cut waste and prevent fraud, which was also one of Trump's campaign promises. However, experts point out that the decentralized nature of public blockchains may limit government control over data, and the superiority of blockchains in cost and efficiency compared to traditional databases remains controversial.
