PANews reported on June 2 that according to AXIOS, people familiar with the matter revealed that Apple (AAPL.O) will appeal the EU's requirements to share information with technology competitors. The move is a regulation under the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA), requiring the company to comply with its interoperability requirements, which forces Apple to share user information with external developers. Apple continues to fight back strongly against the requirements imposed by the DMA, saying that these requirements force it to give up its intellectual property rights and harm user privacy. According to previous media reports, Apple and Meta Platforms (META.O) were the first companies to be hit by DMA in April this year. An Apple spokesperson said, "We design technology to work seamlessly together so it can provide a unique experience that users love and expect. The EU's interoperability requirements threaten this foundation while creating an unreasonable, expensive, and innovation-stifling process."
