Hong Kong Police: Received about 100 investment fraud cases in the past week, an 84-year-old man was deceived into investing in virtual currency and lost nearly 10 million yuan

PANews reported on April 26 that according to the Hong Kong Wen Wei Po, the Hong Kong police received nearly 100 investment fraud cases in the past week, with a total loss of more than 90 million yuan. Among them, an 84-year-old man met a man who claimed to be the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of a data company through WeChat. He was deceived into investing in virtual currency and transferred nearly 10 million yuan to the scammer's account in 14 installments.

The Hong Kong police remind that before investing in virtual assets, one should fully understand the relevant product characteristics and information security risks, and must carefully consider before investing.
