PANews reported on April 9th that, according to Bloomberg, RISC-V chip startup SiFive has completed a $ 400 million funding round, led by Atreides Management , with participation from Nvidia , Apollo Global Management , and Point72 , valuing the company at $ 3.65 billion. SiFive plans to use the funds to develop new products for AI data centers and accelerate the development of its related software ecosystem. The company aims to provide large data center operators ( hyperscalers ) with rapidly customizable CPU solutions based on the RISC-V open-source instruction set, offering an alternative to the currently widely used Nvidia AI accelerators and Arm architecture server chips. Research firm Jon Peddie Research states that approximately 135 companies are currently developing or planning to develop AI processors, but it is projected that only about 25 specialized AI chip companies will survive by 2030 .
