PANews reported on April 23 that crypto KOL @aaronjmars disclosed on the X platform that a man profited approximately $34,000 on the Polymarket weather forecast market by interfering with temperature sensors at Paris airport. The market relies on a sensor located near the runway at Charles de Gaulle Airport, operated by the French meteorological service, as its data source; this sensor is largely unattended. The man bought unpopular temperature options (such as 22°C, when the prevailing forecast was 18°C) at extremely low prices, then briefly heated the air around the sensor using a portable heat source, causing the temperature reading to spike and be recorded as the highest value of the day. The temperature returned to normal within minutes, but the market had already settled according to his prediction. The man succeeded twice, on April 6 and April 15, until the French meteorological service discovered the scheme and filed a lawsuit.
