PANews reported on May 1st, citing Business Insider, that OpenAI President Greg Brockman stated at a recent Sequoia Capital event that AI programming tools are rapidly evolving, leaping from development aids to core productivity drivers in software development. Currently, AI code generation capabilities have improved from "handling approximately 20% of code writing work" to "completing approximately 80% of the code," signifying that AI is transitioning from a peripheral tool to a dominant force in the development process. OpenAI's internal code generation tools, such as Codex, have expanded from tools for software engineers to serve "anyone who uses a computer for work." However, at this stage, OpenAI still requires all submitted code to be reviewed and approved by humans to avoid the risks associated with full automation.
OpenAI President: AI code generation capability has increased from 20% to 80%, and programming evolution is rapid.
