The White House held a meeting on Wednesday to address concerns that certain provisions of the Clarity Act could make it more difficult to combat illicit finance.

PANews reported on June 9th that, according to crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett, three sources familiar with the matter revealed that U.S. government officials will meet with law enforcement groups at the White House on Wednesday to address concerns that certain provisions of the Clarity Act, including developer protection provisions derived from the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, could increase the difficulty of combating illicit finance. This issue, along with the ethics provisions, is one of the major hurdles that must be addressed before the bill reaches a full Senate vote. Several Democrats have stated they will not support the bill unless law enforcement concerns are adequately addressed. This meeting follows broader lobbying efforts by the crypto industry, including holding town hall meetings and inviting former law enforcement officials now working in the crypto sector to participate in the lobbying.
