US media: US-Iran agreement may be hindered by Beirut airstrike; some criticisms of the memorandum of understanding are unfounded.

PANews reported on June 14th, citing Fox News, that a diplomat involved in the negotiations revealed that today's airstrike in Beirut, Lebanon, has caused trouble for the finalization of the (US-Iran) agreement. The diplomat also stated, "This is a clear attempt by Israel to undermine President Trump's agreement and drag the United States back into war." A senior Israeli official refuted claims that Israel was responsible for the clashes, stating, "For the past three days, Hezbollah attacks have consistently targeted Israeli civilians."

Iranian parliamentary economic committee member Zohoryan stated that while the currently discussed text of the Iran-US memorandum of understanding does have "flaws and ambiguities," describing it as "a worse agreement than the Iran nuclear deal" or "Iran's surrender" is inaccurate. He said that the currently circulating text of the memorandum of understanding still has many problems and controversies; however, the wording of some critics is clearly exaggerated and fails to accurately reflect its actual content and significance.
