France to Stop Certifying Products Without Quantum-Safe Encryption

PANews, June 18 – According to Reuters, France’s cybersecurity agency ANSSI said on Tuesday that it will stop certifying security products that lack post-quantum cryptography starting in 2027, and recommends that enterprises procure only quantum-safe products by 2030. ANSSI certification is mandatory for French government agencies and critical infrastructure operators, a move that will effectively phase out legacy encryption systems.

ANSSI official Samih Souissi stated that this is not only a technical issue but also involves governance, industrial planning, regulation, and sovereignty. The policy shift is also designed to guard against “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks — where attackers may store encrypted data now and decrypt it once future quantum computers become powerful enough.
