Aztec Labs: Attacked product was a payment product abandoned four years ago, no longer under control

PANews, June 18 — Aztec Labs stated on platform X that the team is investigating a potential vulnerability that may affect the Aztec payment product, which was deprecated in 2021. Approximately $2 million was transferred from an immutable smart contract. The deprecated product is the immutable Stage 2 Rollup version that was discontinued in 2022. Aztec Labs does not hold admin keys or any control over the system and cannot pause or upgrade it. This incident is independent of the Aztec Connect product attack on June 14. Additionally, the Aztec Foundation stated that the product affected by this attack has no connection to the current network or any smart contracts of the AZTEC ERC20 token.
