Tether-backed payment app Oobit integrates Brazil’s PIX network, enabling USDT spending and settlement

PANews, June 23 – Tether-backed payment app Oobit has integrated PIX, the instant payment network built by Brazil’s central bank, allowing users to top up Brazilian reais (BRL) within the Oobit app, swap to and hold USDT, and then complete everyday payments via the PIX network. Oobit stated that users can send USDT to any PIX Key or scan a QR code to pay, with on-chain settlement handled in the background while the front-end experience remains identical to the PIX flow in existing banking apps. Brazil’s PIX currently has nearly 170 million users. Previously in 2024, Oobit closed a $25 million Series A funding round led by Tether and Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko.
